When you walk up to my front door this welcome sign is the first thing you see!
How can it only be Thursday?
School started this week for me, and we’re trying to get back in the swing of things! Miss L. has adjusted fine. I was thinking that she’d miss me and have some separation anxiety this first week back…not the case. She screamed, “Noooo…..I want to stay here!!!” when I picked her up at the babysitter’s on Tuesday. Really, kid?! {It’s kind of embarrassing when your own child doesn’t want to come home with you.}
I seem to be the only one in our house who’s struggling through the week. Waking up to an alarm clock again really stinks. I hate it!
Anyway, I digress. Want me to tell you about my pallet wood sign?
Believe it or not, this is my first actual pallet wood sign. All of my other signs have been made out of other materials.
I just brushed off an old piece of pallet wood and stenciled WELCOME Â on it. The stencils were made on my Silhouette Cameo, and the font size is 675. That’s it! Tutorial is over!
Pallet wood signs are so easy to make! You can use so many different kinds of paint. I used some left-over “Heirloom White” by American Accents. It’s really a furniture paint, but whatev.
I hung it by our front door and moved some of my flowers to our front stoop and I think it’s quite welcoming, if I do say so myself! Then I snagged the little wire basket on wheels at an antique store recently…isn’t it cute?!
I hope your week is going faster than mine! Here’s to the weekend getting here FAST! đ
Have a great day!

LOVE IT, April! It’s the perfect size and I love the planter!
April Hoff says
Thank you, Jen!! xo
Tammy says
I love it. How did you hang it on your siding?
April Hoff says
I used a vinyl siding hanger that I purchased at Menards. You just slide it in between two pieces of siding and it pops right into place!
Jenny says
I have been wondering how to hang things on siding also! Ill have to go check out menards!
Diana W says
can you tell how or what was used to attach the welcome sign to siding as in picture?
April Hoff says
Yes! I used a vinyl siding hanger that I purchased at Menards. You just slide it in between two pieces of siding and it pops right into place!
Cara says
Can you explain how you attached the wire from the board to the hanger? I have a board and I’m trying to figure out how to hang i on my wall as it is so heavy!
April Hoff says
I just used a staple gun to attach some picture-hanging wire to the board. đ
Krissy says

Love this! Did you make your own stencils or did you buy them? If you bought them, where did you get them? This is so adorable!
April Hoff says
Thank you, Emily! I made them using my Silhouette Cameo.
Lollie LUCERO says
What is silhouette Cameo?
April Hoff says
It’s a machine that cuts paper, vinyl, etc. đ
Jenny says
I know you said a vinyl siding hanger. But did you just drill holes in the board and put wire through them?
Jenny says
Sorry for another question lol. But how long of a board did you use and is it a thin 1 … cuz i wouldn’t think you could hang anything too heavy on the siding hanger. ..?
lisa says
Could you tell me what brand and color paint you used on your front door? It’s a beautiful color and so welcoming!!
April Hoff says
Thank you, Lisa! IT is Dutch Boy’s âFrosty Gladeâ with a few more drops of pigment.

Your welcome sign turned out lovely! Now I want to make one by my front door! But if I’m being totally honest I’m totally drooling over the color of your front door.

Yvette says
dear April-
I love your welcome sign. Did u stain the wood at all to alter its color?
April Hoff says
Thank you, Yvette. No, I did not stain it. It was naturally that color. đ
Yvette says
Thank you, April. I’m in love with your sign! Beautiful job. This will be my first diy project, so wish me luck! I will have to sand and stain my wood piece. Fingers crossed! đ
