I threw a cowgirl themed birthday party and here are all the awesome details!
When your sweet baby girl turns 3 years old, you have a choice:
You can choose to be weepy and emotional about how big she is getting…{which I totally was the entire week of her birthday.}
Or you can choose to be happy and excited about the big girl that she’s becoming and throw an awesome cowgirl birthday party to celebrate…(which I also did.}
So, I guess I chose both. 😉
I tend to go all out for her birthday parties. I figure that this might be the last year I actually get to choose the theme. She kept insisting that she was having a princess party, so we were calling it a princess-cowgirl party…which it was.
Setting this table was so much fun! My mom made the cow-print table runners for the occasion and I sprinkled some gold sequins and added the jars of baby’s breath. I also placed little chalkboard stands {purchased at Hobby Lobby} in between the jars. They add the punch of personality needed!
The backdrop for the cupcake table was super-easy to make. I bought a large roll of paper at Hobby Lobby that looks like planks of wood. {Yes, that’s right…those “wood planks” are actually a roll of paper!} To assemble I simply stapled the paper to the back of my old window frame and then I added the gorgeous birthday pennants and table decorations to complete the look! Love this!
One more shot of the cupcake table:
The nice thing about the cowgirl theme is that it fit really nicely with my existing rustic decor. I let myself go a little crazy with decorating the cupcake table, so I reined myself in {no pun intended} for the rest of the house.
The mantel didn’t require too much as I just added the horse pennants and made a big 3 on the chalkboard. Nice and simple. 😉
It’s a good thing that I took pictures of this chalkboard as soon as I finished it. Miss L’s little fingers just couldn’t stay away from that horse silhouette. It looked like a blurry mess within a few hours. I’d like to think that she was trying to make the horse look like it was running by in a blur…?
So, the nice thing about deciding on your daughter’s birthday party theme months in advance is that you can grab random horse-related decor out of your neighbor’s “to-sell” pile…which is exactly how the horse portrait ended up in my possession. 😉
Every year I put together a photo collage of Miss L’s year. I’d say her third year was a pretty good one!
Yes. My little girl is growing up.
She is becoming quite the little entertainer and boldly stood up in front of her guests to thank them for coming before tearing into her presents. When she was done opening presents, she insisted on changing into her new Frozen robe and slippers. {Which would explain what she is wearing in the cupcake pictures…ha!}
It was a perfect day!

I would like to give a special thanks to Trish, from Trish’s Design Studio, for creating the printable party decorations for our party. This is my second year in a row working with Trish to create the gorgeous printable pennants, cupcake toppers, and food cards {not pictured}. She does amazing work and is so easy to work with! Check out Trish’s Etsy shop here!
Whew! Another one in the books! 😉
Have a great day!
Wow.. What a cute theme..I love to see other mom’s go wild for their children’s birthdays. I don’t mean wild in price just you can see all the thought and love in all the special details.. I love it.
Thank you, Lisa! Yes, I do go wild in my efforts, but it’s not to show off or be obnoxious, it’s because I just really love to do it! 😉 I’m glad you “get me”!
What a cute party! I love the cow-print table runner…so cowgirl chic! Happy Birthday to Little Miss L 🙂
Thanks, Erin!
