Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by! This blog is a very special place to me!
What do you want to know about me? I hardly know what to share, so I’ll just write a list of things that you might find interesting.
1) I am a mom to a funny and sassy eight-year-old girl. I love being mom to a girl, and I LOVE that she likes to wear dresses, dance, and sing along to any song she knows {or just make up her own song}. She couldn’t be more perfect to her father and I, and we simply adore her. Most evenings end with a recap of all the funny things she did or said that day.
2) I am married to my high-school sweetheart. We started dating when we were sophomores in high-school. To say that I feel lucky to be married to a man who loves me unconditionally, supports me no matter what I decide I want to do, and is just a straight-up great guy, would be an understatement. I’m a lucky girl to be married to him! (Oh! And he’s a great father too!)
3) I own my own photography business. This is a dream come true. It took me a few years to work up the courage to turn my passion for photography into a real business, but I’m proud to say that I own and run my own business (well businesses including this blog)! I love working with new clients, and getting to know new people. I primarily shoot families and children, and occasionally weddings.
4) I used to be a teacher. Before being a full-time blogger and photographer, I taught 5th grade in a suburb of Indianapolis for 6.5 years until I had my daughter. After taking a little time off, I returned to a new district as a Title 1 reading teacher. After ten years in the profession, I decided to pursue my photography and blogging full time and am no longer teaching. I loved teaching, and there are many things I miss about it, but after ten years, I just knew it was time to move on.
5) I am a Type-1 Diabetic. This is something that I haven’t really talked about on m blog, but there it is. Some days my diabetes seems like a non-factor, and other days it makes me want to cry. It’s definitely a frustrating disease, but I was diagnosed at age 11, so I’m pretty used to it. It is what it is, and I do my best to take good care of myself.
6) We have been through recurrent pregnancy loss. Our first pregnancy with our daughter was very smooth and easy. Sadly, we have not had as much luck growing our family since then. I have had two miscarriages and a tubal pregnancy. If you have ever had a miscarriage or had a pregnancy end unexpectedly, then you understand the emotional pain and grief that comes along with it. The years following our losses were tough, but I honestly feel like I’m coming out of it a stronger person, and I’m learning to find the good.
7) Trading Spaces was a game-changer for me. C’mon, you KNOW you remember that TLC show, Trading Spaces!!! When that show came out, I never missed an episode. I was in complete awe of the way the show’s designers could completely transform a room in 2 days. That show rocked my world, and is 100% responsible for getting me interested in home decorating on a budget!
8) I LOVE to shop garage sales! It is my favorite thing to do in the summertime, and I love the thrill of the chase! I even have a garage-sale song that I sing to my daughter when I have to get to take her along with me!
9) I love reality TV. Real Housewives of every city, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Southern Charm, 90-Day Fiancee…the list goes on and on. Not only do I love watching these shows, but then I love listening to podcasts that recap them while I edit photos.
10) I have been blogging for SEVEN years. Blogging used to be a weird thing I did that very few people understood, but now it’s becoming pretty common. It’s been an amazing journey for me that has led to opportunities (like being featured in magazines , making blogger friends from across the country, and launching my photography business) that I never dreamed I would do.
