Giving a console table a facelift is something i love doing!
I really get a kick out of finding cheap ugly furniture and transforming it into something beautiful.
Case in point, this dated ugly console table:
I found this old girl at a thrift store. I wasn’t a fan of her cherry-wood finish or brassy hardware, but I loved the size, and knew it would fit perfectly in our living room.
{This picture was taken before our trim and walls were painted….bleh.}
I brush painted the table my go-to “Heirloom White” (by American Accents, or Rustoleum). I considered switching out the drawer pulls, but ended up just spray painting them “Champagne Nouveau” by Krylon.
…and that little crate under the console table? It used to look like this:
See? I told you I get a kick out of cheap ugly stuff!

Hi, i have the same exact table that my great grandmother left me. Before i go and paint it, can you please tell me if you used primer or did you sand it. This will be my first time painting wood and i dont want to ruin it. Thanks. By the way, yours came out amazing!! Great job.
April Hoff says
Thanks, Veronica! Yes, to both! I sanded it down with a medium-grit sand paper, and primed it! 🙂 Good luck with your grandma’s table!

Hi April! I love what you’ve done to the table. It’s very pretty and unique, but I was actually wondering what color you used for your wall.
April Hoff says
Hi, Kimberly! I used Benjamin Moore’s “Vapor Trails” and absolutely love it!!! 🙂

I realize this post is a little older {or rather my comment is a little late}, but I love the facelift on the console table. I have a table with a shiny cherry finish similar to the console table that I’ve been thinking about painting. Trying to decide between white and gray. Love your console table!
I also have an old {antique} dresser with an attached mirror that swivels and a marble top that I’m thinking about giving a facelift as well. Any suggestions for the dresser?
April Hoff says
Thanks, Pam! Yes, the white was a big improvement over the dark cherry wood color! Without seeing dresser, it’s hard for me offer suggestions, but I love the look of marble with gray! 😉
