Here are some of the photos from my new business, April Hoff Photography!
It’s Photography Wednesday, and I feel like I’m ready to let the cat out of the bag: I started a photography business.
I know. I just decided to do it. I must be nuts to add one more thing to my plate, right?!
I had been waiting patiently for the right time to start my photography business, and something about this summer just felt right.
It kind of started slow. I created a logo and started adding it to my photos. Then I started taking on jobs….
{Can you believe I actually got to shoot a wedding?? Pinch me!}
I quickly realized that I needed some business cards and a website. So I did that.
And here I am at the end of the summer…and I can’t believe how many photography jobs I’ve had.
It’s funny how every job has been completely different. I feel like I’ve learned a lot and been so inspired!
What have you been up to this summer?
That’s really awesome – congrats on starting your business! You have a lot of talent. 🙂
Awww, thanks so much, Sarah! I sincerely appreciate your sweet words! 😉
Congrats! You are off to a great start! I do photography on the side and I started my business a few years ago but it never really got off the ground because it was a side job. Any tips to get it going? I just want to be able to do sessions here and there but not do it as a full time job.
My biggest source of jobs is through referrals from family and friends. I make sure I’m friends with whoever I’m shooting on Facebook, and I tag them in “sneak peak” collages. Their friends and family comment and ask who the photographer is, etc. We’ll see if it stays steady! 😉 I also think it helps to just straight-out tell people that you work with and know that you’re a photographer. A lot of my jobs have been for coworkers too! Good luck! 😉
This is awesome. So proud of you!
Thanks, friend! xo
SO EXCITING, APRIL! I love seeing those photos that you’ve taken pop up on your FB page. You are so talented! Keep them coming!

How exciting for you to be starting this exciting new chapter! You take amazing photos and you can see how much you love it in the finished shots and in the smiles on your subject’s faces, especially the kids. 🙂

Thank you, Mandy! You have already been a great resource for me! 😉 xo
The coolest thing about all this is that, yes, you are amazingly talented and, yes, it will be an awesome business… but really, you are actually ‘giving’ and paying it forward with your ‘business’ because of the stunning photographs you will be doing for them that will always live on and hold so many memories of their family and the most important people in their lives. You know what I mean?? Good for you…
You are just too sweet. You made my day, Krista! 😉 Thank you, sweet friend!
