Fall just might be my favorite season to decorate. {But I think I say that about every season…except winter.}
The house feels cozier. The blankets feel warmer. The decor looks natural and rustic.
I focused on using vintage garage sale finds and things I already had to put together this inexpensive fall mantel.
My grandma’s garage sale yielded some treasures! My {fake} succulent planters made from vintage spice canisters were from her stash.
I also got some old, hinged measuring sticks from her . I just formed this one into a rectangle and attached it to my old window grate. I love how it creates a frame around my wreath!
About the only thing I spent money on was my wheat wreath. I can’t say my technique for making it was the best, but I purchased the wreath form and 2 bunches of dried wheat from Hobby Lobby. I cut the sprigs of wheat and then attached them to the wreath using a combination of a hot glue and twine. I just worked my way around the wreath. I burned myself about 6 times, and it doesn’t look completely even, but hey…it works. 😉
The hydrangeas were snipped from a friend’s hydrangea bush. I think they add the perfect finishing touch!
Putting together this inexpensive fall mantel was so fun…I love creating pretty things without spending a lot of money! 😉

Let’s check out what my partners-in-crime came up with for their $30 Thursday Projects:
Love Shayna’s Picture Frame to Chalkboard! I need to make a couple of these!!
I’ve always wanted to make a fabric message board, can’t wait to check out Jen’s!
I hope you have a great $30 Thursday!
It looks beautiful! I love the window and the succulents. Great look for $30. ~Sonya
Love that wheat wreath!!! I want to try to make that!
Thanks, Jen! It was messy! Do it outside! 😉
April, everything you touch is gold! Love this gorgeous mantel and can’t wait to see what else you have up your sleeves for autumn.
You just made my whole day, Michelle! 😉 Thanks so much!
Gorgeous! I love the blue mason jars and twigs!! It definitely says Fall!
Thanks, Selene! 😉
But what about the fun video to see how it all came together? Ha ha it’s still gorgeous of course and we expect nothing less from you! Your grandma was a wealth of treasures too. Very pretty! 🙂
Ha! I do that ONE time, and Christy wants more! 😉 Thanks, girl!
Love your Fall mantel! It looks wonderful! You’ve done such a great job of layering things w/o it looking cluttered!
I’m so glad you said that, Lisa! That is always the fine line…layering without cluttering! 🙂
Beautiful and such great inspiration! I’m loving the the old window!
Such a beautiful mantle April! Love that it only costs $30!
Me too, Deb! That’s my favorite part! Ha! 😉 Thank you!
It turned out lovely. I especially like your throw pillow and how you’ve taken that color to tie in everything.
Just a FYI. Your links in your blog post are almost impossible to see because they are so light. Even this that I am writing is pretty light but the link color is super hard to see.
Love the mantle! But those baskets! I have looked and looked for round ones that size. Do they happen to be available anywhere?
I got them last year at Meijer…I haven’t seen them there lately though. 😉
Hey April! Just stopping by to let you know that I shared your mantel on my blog today (with credit and a link back, of course). It’s absolutely gorgeous!
