Guest Bathroom Design Plans: New Year New Room Challenge

We’re making over our guest bathroom with herringbone stone floors, pretty new mosaic wallpaper, and beautiful chrome finishes!

There’s nothing better than starting off the new year with a brand new home project!  There’s also nothing better than tackling a room that has been bugging the crap out of me FOR YEARS.  That’s right, kids. The bathroom is getting a major overhaul this month, and today I’m sharing my guest bathroom design plans and inspiration for this space.

I’ve created this design board to help myself visualize how our guest bathroom will look once we’re finished.  I’m going with a dark gray basalt herringbone tile for the floor, chrome finishes, a gray vanity with marble counter top, and a beautiful tangier print wallpaper for the walls.  I’m bringing in a little color and character with a new rug, and I hope to find one or two decor pieces in muted mauve-pinks.

The Inspiration

This image serves at my inspiration for the bathroom.  It’s a gorgeous laundry room by Julie Howard Home Design that really inspired me to find a wallpaper that would look similar to a gray and white tile mosaic.  I also really loved the use of chrome lighting fixtures and hardware and the dark stone floor.  I am going with more of a gray color for our vanity, but I love the dusty blue in this photo too!

Ordering the Supplies

I am still in the very beginning stages of this guest bathroom makeover, but so far I’ve ordered the beautiful Tangier Wallpaper from Spoonflower.  I opted for their removable peel and stick wallpaper, but they also offer prepasted removable smooth wallpaper, and a traditional nonpasted options as well.  They have SO many gorgeous wallpapers, and I had a very hard time narrowing down all the options!

I’ve also ordered our new vanity, faucet, lighting, and tile from Home Depot!

This entire guest bathroom makeover is part of the New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge that I’m taking part of with these fabulous ladies!  I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but the goal is to have the entire bathroom done in a month!  Wish me luck!!!!  We’ll be posting every Tuesday in January on room progress and the final finished projects!
