Hi friends! It’s $30 Thursday, and I have a two-toned table tale to tell.
Huh?
Yeah. I don’t know. It just sounded cool.
The two-toned table tale begins as most of my tales do: at a random garage sale on a random day.
As you can clearly see, my little table needed some love. Let me break this transformation down for you:
1. I loved little details of this table {which cost $7}. I really liked the little drawer and the ornate looking legs. No matter that it was beat up, we can always fix that! 😉
2. To get the black paint off of the table top and drawer, I used a combination of sanding and stripping….ha! That sounded funny. I sanded all of the paint off that I could, then followed the directions on the paint stripper canister to remove the rest of the black paint. Note: It took several repeated tries with the stripper to get all of the black paint off. {Am I immature, or do all of these sentences with the word “stripper” sound really funny when read aloud??}
3. Ok. Moving on. Now we see the table with the black paint completely off of the tabletop and drawer.
4. I used newspaper and painters tape to completely cover up the table top and removed the drawer.
5. I spray painted the legs and bottom of the table with Rust-Oleum’s “Aqua”. It took two good coats to completely cover the black paint.
6. Using Minwax’s Wood Finish in “Driftwood” to stain the table top and drawer. I only used one coat, because I didn’t want the wood to get any darker.
7. I like how you can still see some of the black coming through the stain. It really gives this table some character!
8. Tada! I just love how this little table came together!
Do you see how some of the black paint still shows through the stain? I love that!
I have some major plans to change up Miss L.’s room this fall, and this little two-toned table will be PERFECT for the space!
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first two-toned table tale I’ve told. To see my first little two-toned table, click here.
Let’s see what my $30 Thursday girls came up with this month:
Isn’t Shayna’s Easy Chicken Feeder Centerpiece so clever?
I love a good knock-off, and Jen’s Ballard Designs Audree Pom Pom Sham Knock-Off is adorable!

So pretty- I love the turquoise legs…and the black paint showing through on the wooden top is a great touch.
That is so cute! I love the long legs and the shape of them. Nice color combination!
Did the table have veneer on top?
Nope! Wood! 😉
