Texture. Hmmm…I think when I first got into decorating, I underestimated the important of texture. But it’s definitely important to add and layer textures for a visually appealing look.
Last weekend, I took down all of the winter decor, and began my spring decorating. I couldn’t help but notice how the fresh, springy textures of the lavender sprigs, the green leaves, and the little jar of white ocean stones made the house feel instantly more fresh, bright, and, well, springy!
Bringing the outdoor textures indoors makes things feel new again and can makes a vignette or room come to life!
Side note: I collected these white ocean rocks from a beach on Cape Cod last summer. I stuck them all in a plastic Wal-Mart bag, and then jammed them in my carry-on suitcase. When my suitcase went through the x-ray thing, (or whatever that is), the rocks looked “suspicious” and I had to empty out my entire suitcase right then and there. Totally worth it to bring these little treasures home with me! 😉
…and just a little dose of cuteness for good measure!
