It is sweet, sweet summertime, and I’m so excited to have you here today for a summer tour of my home with the Simply Summer Home Tours!
If you are stopping by for the first time, welcome! I hope you leave inspired and happy. I’d like to take a minute to thank Country Living Magazine, Birch Lane, and Nina Hendrick for hosting this completely amazing lineup of Simply Summer Home Tours! I sometimes have to pinch myself that I get to be included among such talented bloggers!
We’ll begin the tour in my newly redecorated dining room and kitchen. These spaces are changing by the minute, and I’m so glad to have a chance to show you around!
I finally got around to planting a peony bush in the back yard earlier in the spring. We had a few peony bushes at our old house, and I missed seeing them bloom in the late spring each year. The new bush yielded some very pretty blooms, but not enough to decorate the whole house with. As luck would have it, our local grocery store stocked some gorgeous pink peonies, so I was able to combine mine with the grocery store’s to make a pretty centerpiece for the table!
I love the combination of the pink peonies with the blue dishes and pillows.
Our almost finished kitchen opens up to the dining room, so creating a flow between these two spaces is important. I’ve tried to incorporate pieces with wood-tones and industrial elements to tie it all together. I think the bar stools and the open shelving really help to make this space cohesive. I also think that every space needs a little black. A little black here, a little black there, aaannnd done! 😉
Did I mention that our kitchen is almost finished? The latest is the installation of the perimeter quartz counter tops, new sink, and new faucet. We are waiting on some gray  subway tile for the back-splash, and I’ll be ready to throw the towel in. The kitchen towel, that is….see what I did there?
One of the nice young men who came to our house to install the new counter tops, just kind of gazed around and said, “You know, your house looks like it could be in a magazine…”
I always knew I liked counter top installers. They just know what they’re talking about. So wise. 😉
Alright, so lets move on to the living room. Shall we? The console table is looking pretty much the same, but…
…the mantel got a fun summer makeover!
(I will be sharing my tutorial for the DIY Pallet Wood American Flag next week!)
And now for the master bedroom. I used my Birch Lane gift card to go towards some new bedding. Our old bedding was beginning to fall apart, and I just wanted to replace it with something that was neutral and pretty. I opted for the Alice Stone Quilted Bedding Collection. I love how effortlessly it goes with everything I already had in here. 🙂
And that about wraps up my 2016 Summer Home Tour! Thanks so much for stopping by!
