I’m back for a whopping second post this week, (which for me is practically a miracle!) My sweet friend Nina Hendrick put together a group of fantastic bloggers for a Summer Home Tour blog hop this week, and quite frankly, I am just flattered to be along for the ride. 😉 *Affiliate links are used at the bottom of this post.

I’ll be sharing my summer dining room today, which is one of my favorite spots in our house to decorate. It’s even more fun to decorate when you’ve got some freshly cut pink peonies to work with! I actually shot this a few weeks ago when the peonies were still fresh…Now they’re gone, and I’m just waiting for those hydrangea bushes to start blooming! Aren’t flowers one of the best parts of summer?
I am especially fond of flowers that I don’t have to work for…Just plant the hydrangea and peony bushes, and boom. Fresh flowers every summer. That’s what I’m talking about.
My lack of a green thumb is a bit embarrassing. I actually haven’t planted any flowers at all this year. I normally plant at least one planter of geraniums and potato vines (or whatever my mom tells me to get) on the deck, but this year…nope. Nothing. And I don’t really have any plans to change that.

I sound like such a stinker, don’t I? I really do love flowers. In our landscaping, we have knockout roses, daylilies, and hydrangeas on the way…So, see? I’m not so bad!
How about you? Are you an avid flower-planter? Do you love planting and watering and fertilizing? If so, want to come over and teach me your ways?
Thanks for stopping by today and letting me ramble on…you are so kind. 😉

what a beautiful dining room! I’m with you…I’m trying sooooo hard to be a plant lady and it’s not quite working out. not sure what I’m doing wrong but this may be my last attempt at it 🙁
April Hoff says
Thank you so much, Tiffany! We can be quitters together…ha! 😉

Your tablescape is beautiful! I am a huge fan of peonies and hydrangeas, but I manage to kill those too! I’ve planted two hydrangea bushes and they both died. I think I’m going to try for a third;-)
April Hoff says
Oh geesh, well you’re on a whole new level, April! Ha! (Just kidding!) I would try to give you advice, but obviously, I’m the last person on Earth that should try to do that. 😉
Krista @ the happy housie says
Ha! I’ve totally gone to grasses and ferns this year with only a few other types of pots – hoping I can’t kill them with lack of love (and water)! Wish me luck:) Stunning styling and photography, as always, friend. And your new profile pic is adorable!
April Hoff says
Oooh…ferns! I could maybe do some ferns! Thanks for the idea, Krista! And thanks for your sweet words! xo
Laura says
Haha I’m with you! No green thumb here. I think you are much better than me, your fresh flowers are gorgeous! So beautiful!
April Hoff says
Thanks, Laura! Glad to be in good company in the plant department! xo
Danielle says

Thank you so much, Danielle! xo

You are the best at styling! I love seeing your dining room each season – it’s always so beautiful. Also, I’m so jealous that you have peony and hydrangea bushes. I can barely get a weed to grow down here it’s so hot! Actually, I take that back – I have plenty of weeds growing. Shhhh…
April Hoff says
I guess living in Indiana over Florida has maybe one advantage…Ha!! Thanks for your sweet words, Chelsea! xo
Jamie says
Just gorgeous, April! I love your home and your styling is impeccable. And so is your photography! Jealous of your peonies. I have a black thumb too lol.
Hugs, Jamie
April Hoff says
Thank you, Jamie! I think we can all just agree that fake plants are where it’s at! Thanks for your sweet words, coming from you I consider that a major compliment! xo
