Our new four pane black front door and sidelight is a showstopper and has given our home a more modern look.
Wow, summer is really off and running! I was ready to switch up our front stoop for a more tropical and summer look, and I figured that it was also a great opportunity to share our NEW FRONT DOOR!!! We switched out the old blue front door for a brand new four-pane front door and sidelight. This black front door gave our house an instant face lift and modern more modern look! I’m sharing our summer front stoop and new front door as part the Seasonal Simplicity Outdoor Summer Spaces hosted by my dear friend, Krista! Find the whole lineup at the bottom of this post.
I’m not usually one to go for a tropical look, but between the fiddle leaf fig, and the pink blooming flowers, my pretty, tropical summer front stoop took bloom right in front of me!
I’m anticipating that there will be many questions about our front door, so I’ll attempt to give you all of the information here. We ordered this Therma-Tru door and sidelight through Home Depot. I had to custom order this door, as it is not one that they will just have in stock. I had to make a special millwork request that the grill (the cross grid) be on the exterior of the window panes (not the interior between two panes of glass.) I believe the Home Depot door guy had to actually call Therma-Tru to get the grill on the outside. The door and sidelight color is: Onyx. We ordered the frame “unfinished” and painted it to match the trim of our house. We had the new door professionally installed, because we did not feel like this was a job we wanted to try to do ourselves. I think this was the right call! Ha!
I chose a really beautiful vintage brass doorknob and deadbolt by Grandeur Fifth Avenue, which I also ordered through Home Depot. I love the simple and elegant finish it gives the door!
Now back to the front stoop! I like how the pink flowers really pop with the new front door!
I really kept a lot of the same pieces that I use on my front stoop for every season, and just switched out the plants.
This hibiscus plant was a birthday gift from my sister-in-law…isn’t it perfect on the front stoop! I love how it looks here!
The pink flowers are just SO pretty and so tropical!
That’s all for my new black four pane front door and summer front stoop!
As I mentioned above, I’m taking part in a Outdoor Summer Blog Hop today! Check out all of the outdoor summer spaces!

Hi there
That door looks amazing. Is the MFG Therma-Tru.. I can’t find it in Home Depot
April Hoff says
I have no idea what MFG means…can you clarify? 🙂
Kit Katt says
Love the door! Did you paint it yourself? What is the sheen? Satin, Semi-gloss, or High-gloss?
April Hoff says
We did not paint it ourselves, it came from the factory that way. I would call it a semi-gloss finish. 🙂
Susan says
What color hinges did you go with? I’m copying you and contractor just asked what color hinges did I want! ummmm… I don’t know!
April Hoff says
Gold! 😉
April Hoff says
Or maybe brass…whatever matched the doorknob best. 😉
