My elegant holiday living room and mantel came together pretty easily this year. I am reusing many favorite decorations and adding in some new pieces to create a really lovely space for the season!
Happy December! Can you believe how quickly time is flying? With a busy photography season behind me, my daughter switching frequently between in-person and virtual school, and just the general craziness that this time of year brings, it seems like getting into a regular routine and consistency has just not been possible. But, I digress. Despite the craziness of 2020, it is almost over, and we find ourselves getting ready to jump into the holidays! Woohoo! 😉
Elegant Holiday Living Room and Mantel
Today I’m sharing my elegant holiday living room and mantel as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Holiday tour hosted by one of my favorite blog friends in all the land, Krista from The Happy Housie. Find the entire lineup of holiday mantels and vignettes at the end of this post!
I must be getting old or something. I am just really finding myself drawn to really traditional and elegant design lately. If I had my way, I’d really love to take a paintbrush to this whole space and paint it a really dark, moody color, add some picture frame moulding, and hang old oil paintings on the wall. Either I’m getting old, or I’ve been watching too much of The Crown…or both…ha!
But, seriously folks, I did have kind of a European/Traditional style in mind while decorating this year. I opted for an asymmetrical draped garland, some bronze and gold metallic touches, and (of course!) a few bottle brush trees around the living room.
We spend more time as a family in this room than anywhere else in the house. As Miss L is getting older, we’re really enjoying playing card games around the coffee table at night, watching holiday movies, or trying to focus on a tv show while she goes around, and around, and arrrrouuund that table on her hover board alllll evening. *sigh*
My favorite little vignette is tucked away in the corner on our little side table. Such a cute little spot!
One of our favorite things about our house are the really high ceilings. It allows us to go big on the Christmas tree. (Mr. Hoff still has not put the star on the top of the tree at current press time…so imagine it with a big shiny star on top!) 😉
I like to have one big focal point on our oversized coffee table, and this oval-shaped wood bowl fits the bill year around. I just fill it with different things depending on the season. This was actually my dining table centerpiece last year. I just moved her to the coffee table, and called it finished.
The black paper accordion tree is from Hobby Lobby. I wish they would have had more, but I snagged the last one. I love how simple and pretty it looks in the footed planter.
My other new favorite piece is the bronze Grecian wreath on the marble stand. It just finishes the elegant holiday living room and mantel. I got it at a local boutique that I work at, and I couldn’t find anything similar online to link to.
The sparkly tree reflecting in our mirror is such a pretty bonus!
If you do a 180 degree turn from the mantel, you’ll see our open shelves decked out for the holidays.
These shelves are truly my favorite to decorate. I love how much space I have to arrange my favorite home decor pieces.
At the very tippy, top, I am using these beautiful bronze lanterns. I also treated myself to these flameless wax pillar candles. I even sprung for the remote so that I can turn them on and off really easily. I love this lantern/candle combo, and I plan to keep them up there through the winter. The flickering flames add a touch of coziness to our living room.
Thank you so very much for popping into our living room today and taking the holiday tour! My hope is always that you’ll pull a little inspiration or some fun new ideas to try in your home! Below I am including the sources (or as close as I can find) for my holiday living room!
