It kind of feels like somebody is messing with me. All of a sudden, and without warning, it’s HOT in Indiana. Like steamy hot. I find myself unprepared in every way. It seems like winter lasted until May, and then summer was here overnight. I may not be mentally prepared for summer, but my house sure is! I’m super-pumped to be sharing my summer living room with you today as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Summer Home tour hosted by the lovely, Krista from The Happy Housie.Β My home sources can be found throughout the post. My living room seems to have taken on a coastal vibe since my husband and I framed and hung this new piece of coastal artworkΒ this spring. I love the way this piece pulls together all (of the many, many) shades of blue I have going on in the living room at the moment. π
My mantel hasn’t changed much since spring, but I added some new new blue floral throw pillows to the french country chairs, and I rather like the combination! I’m a sucker for a great floral throw pillow!
I’m still loving the unexpected twist of using wood cutting boards on the living room mantel. The wood tones compliment all the blue perfectly!
I recently hung a new mirror in this corner of the living room. I had been looking forever for the perfect piece, but ended up finding exactly what I was looking for in the aisles of my local Hobby Lobby for $35! Score!!!!
There’s never a shortage of (fake) greenery in my house, so to add a vase of fresh flowers is such a treat! The smell of these lilacs was so heavenly! I only wish they had lasted longer! See my tips and sources for faux greenery here.
I am still loving my DIY Succulent Embroidery Hoops! The great thing about succulents is how they look appropriate in any season!
This vignette makes me happy. I love the illusion of the floating hoops (that are hanging on clear fishing wire). π
Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the tour today! I hope you are leaving inspired! πΒ Please find my living room sources below. *Affiliate links are used.

April! So pretty! I love how light and airy it feels – the layers of neutrals with the pops of beachy colour. Absolutely gorgeous room, and beautifully styled mantel. The embroidery hoop succulent wreaths are still one of my favourites – I’d never take them down! Glad you could be part of the hop today!
Thank you, sweet Krista! Thanks for having me! xo
That coastal artwork is beautiful! It creates such a great focal point on your mantel. Your entire space is just lovely. And I totally relate to being unprepared for this heat. We missed the cooler 70 degree days.
Thank you so much, Kim! I appreciate your sweet words! Yes!!! More days in the 70s would be perfect! π
Beautifully done as always, my friend! I love all of your blues! Your living room is so cozy and inviting! I hope you’re having a wonderful week!
~Abby =)
Thank you, Abby! xo
I love the whole look of the house. And the way you blended the aqua, teal and turquoise colours is so much adorable. I love it, you’ve done a great job, April π Love you!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your sweet words! π
HOW is this my first time visiting your beautiful blog? So many scroll stopping moments, the way you’ve layered your decor has me all swoon-y and I am dying over those hoop wreaths!!!!! And succulents, hello new stalker! In a totally non-creep way of course! π
Thank you so much, Laurie! Your sweet words made my day! Feel free to stalk the blog anytime! Ha! π
I know exactly how you feel…one second it was winter here, then another second it was SO hot! I am relieved though! Your mantel looks really lovely…I love beachy themes…that print is gorgeous!
Thanks so much, Jo-Anna! And, yes!!! SO hot out of nowhere!
Hi April. Your living room looks beautiful, as always. I love all of the blues and beachy feeling. Can you tell me the size of rug that you have? I would be putting similar furniture pieces around and I am thinking 8×10?
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for your sweet words. π Yes, it’s an 8’x10′. π
So beautiful, April!! I adore all the soft touches of blue throughout your home and your mantel looks so peaceful.
Thank you so much, Norma! xo
April your color palette is so fresh and summery! Such a pretty room all put together.
Thank you so much, Jaime! π
You always decorate the prettiest mantels, April! I love this one!
Hugs, Jamie
Thank you, Jamie! That’s high praise coming from you! xo
Though I miss the Dahlia mirror a teeny bit, I’m really digging this coastal vibe. Well done April. The beauty of your space is that it is a semi blank canvas and I love all the different moods that you create for each season.
Ohhhh….yes, the Dahlia mirror was hard to replace. I’ll admit, I questioned myself a little bit…ha! π Now that it’s down, and the new artwork is up though, I’m enjoying the beachy vibe for summer. Thank you for your sweet words, Krys! xo
So pretty! Can you tell me the paint color of your walls? Thxs! Jenny
Thank you, Jenny! It’s “Vapor Trails” by Benjamin Moore. π
This room is beautiful. Can you tell me where you found your coffee table?
Thank you! It’s from a garage sale. I just painted it and added the wood pieces on the end. π
I love your furniture. Can you tell me where the upholstered pieces came from?
