You know, I was thinking…
There just aren’t enough DIY projects out there that make use of pallet wood…
Ok, so I’m not the first (or second, or third….} blogger to use pallet wood to create a cool piece for my home, but I love the way this pallet wood box cam out all the same!
I wanted something different for my dining room table for the post-Christmas decor. I’m really into neutral and rustic decor lately, and a pallet wood box for the table seemed like the perfect idea!
Creating this pallet wood box was really simple!
1. We cut three pieces of pallet wood to 20″. I would have made them longer, but I only had a limited amount of usable wood.
2. Using our new Brad Nailer, we nailed the three pieces of wood together to create the bottom and two longer sides of the box.
3. We cut two end pieces to fit the two ends of the box.
4. {Not pictured.} I stained the entire box to create a uniform color and minimize variation of the wood. I used a dry brush technique, similar to the technique I used here, and white furniture paint to create the rustic white finish.
5. {Not pictured.} We screwed black handles to each end of the box. I found the handles at Menards.
I was excited that I could fit five Ball jars into this box! I used some clippings from the pine trees in the backyard and my grandma’s vintage spoons to fill the jars.
Ahhhh…. I love it when a project comes together so easily!
